Cambium Networks, a provider of wireless broadband solutions, and S&C Electric Co., a provider of smart grid technology, have formed a partnership that aims to strengthen S&C's portfolio of solutions and extend the company's market reach for Cambium into the electric utility sector, according to the companies.
Cambium Networks says its point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless broadband radio platforms further expand S&C's existing portfolio, which includes IntelliCom WAN Mesh Radio and SpeedNet Radio offerings.
"The requirements of the many applications found on the grid - such as distribution automation, CVR/VVAR and AMI backhaul - as a few examples, vary tremendously in terms of their requirements of data speed, latency and priority of service," says Ken Monro, vice president of communication systems for S&C.
